Steve Clarke signs new Scotland deal

Contract extended until 2026

Clarke targeting more major tournament qualification

Steve Clarke has signed a new contract with the Scottish Football Association that will keep him in charge of the national team until 2026.

The former West Bromwich Albion, Reading and Kilmarnock manager has been in charge of Scotland since 2019 and has led them to their first major tournament in 23 years, the Euro 2020 finals.

Clarke’s new deal will see him take charge of Scotland at the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, the 2024 European Championship qualifiers, and the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Speaking about his new contract, Clarke said: “I am delighted to have signed a new contract with the Scottish FA.

“I have enjoyed my time with the national team so far and I am excited about the challenges that lie ahead.

“We have a talented group of players and I believe that we can achieve great things together.

“I would like to thank the Scottish FA for their continued support and I look forward to working with them to help the national team reach its full potential.”

Scotland will begin their 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign against Austria on March 25.
