Trio of Earthquakes Strike Off Vancouver Coast
No Tsunami Threat to West Coast
A magnitude 6.4 earthquake shook southwestern Canada near Vancouver on Thursday, according to Earthquakes Canada. The temblor was part of a trio of earthquakes, including one with a preliminary magnitude of 6.1, that struck off the coast. Officials are closely monitoring the swarm of quakes, which could be a sign of a larger event in the future.
Emergency Info BC said there was no tsunami threat to the West Coast as a result of the quakes. However, residents in the affected areas were advised to be prepared for aftershocks.
