Wolves must embrace 'underdog' tag to get out of rut

WOLVES must embrace the tag of ‘underdogs’ if they want to get out of their rut, captain Conor Coady has said. Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have made their worst start to a Premier League season after failing to win any of their opening four matches.

They have also only scored twice in those games, the fewest in the division, and currently sit 19th in the table, two points off the bottom.

Wolves face Brighton at Molineux on Monday looking to end their poor run of form, and Coady says they need to start believing they can defy the odds.

“I think we need to embrace the underdog tag,” he said.

“People are not expecting us to challenge for the title or anything like that, and I think we can use that to our advantage.

“We’ve got a good squad of players and we know we can be competitive in this league.

“We need to believe in ourselves, and I think we can start to turn things around.”

Wolves have a poor recent record against Brighton, having lost their last two meetings.

But Coady is confident they can get a positive result on Saturday.

“They’re a good team, but we’re at home and we need to make sure we make it count,

“The fans will be behind us and we need to give them something to cheer about.

“We need to show that we’re still a good team and that we’re not going to give up without a fight.”
